Class & Tuition

Classroom Objectives
Atlantic’s CDL school curriculum is formulated to meet all objectives necessary for one to complete and obtain their AP permit & Class “A” license. Proper educational tools are provided to each student, so that one can master what it takes to know and operate a commercial vehicle. General Knowledge, Air Brakes and Combination are three must areas that are taught and tested in order to obtain an AP permit.

There are other areas of instruction that are essential in becoming a professional truck driver. Constant instruction and monitoring of vehicle inspection, D.O.T. regulations, and proper log book keeping is stressed throughout your 180 hours of instruction/teaching. Optional endorsements, such as hazmat, are also covered within your first week of classroom training. After successfully obtaining an “AP” permit and passing what is required to move forward, actual hands on instruction with a tractor trailer begins.

The ability to maneuver and operate your tractor trailer safely and properly solely depends on the individual. One must possess a self starter, professional “want to” desire in order understand and absorb all that is needed to accomplish what you came for. Self discipline, listening, acceptance of correction and using your time wisely by practicing repetitively will give you the end results you want and paid for. Once on the yard, one will learn and master six different maneuvers prior to going on the road. Between on the road and yard skills, all students are faced with real life transportation situations.

Road conditions, hazards, rural, urban and interstate driving experience, will turn your old mentality of casual driving to that of a constant respectful on and over the road driver. Our overall, first and foremost objective is to produce a SAFE PROFESSIONAL-QUALITY DRIVER. Now you are ready to test and pass! Remember, safety first, lead by example and earn respect on the road!
